The Karuna Foundation Children's Fund is sponsoring a group of Japanse ten children from Fukushima disaster zone for their respite stay in Australia. The children aged from 10 to 12 years old will be accompanied by English speaking Japanese carers and will be coming to Australia during their summer holiday in August 2013. We are organising a variety filled program for their 2 weeks visit including a five-day home stay experience.
The home stay with the Japanese families will help the young children go through a transitional period; from a Japanese language environment to one where English is spoken and from the hot summer weather of Fukushima to the cold winter weather of Sydney and the Blue Mountains. Staying with the Japanese families will help to minimise the unavoidable culture shock. During their home stay the children will be taken on excursions to Taronga Zoo and Sydney Opera House and a Sydney school.
After the adjusting period the children will move to the Katoomba Karuna Centre where they will stay together for eight nights enjoying a variety of group activities at the Karuna Centre as well as excursions to scenic parts of the Blue Mountains.
Please contact us if you know of a Japanese family who might be interested in assisting with the program by having one or two of the Fukushima children stay in their home.
